If so, then a doctoral research proposal scholarship from the Gutenberg Graduate School of the Humanities and Social Sciences could be just what you are looking for!
Humanities and social sciences students often face funding gap problems at the beginning of their doctoral studies. Successful applications for a doctoral position or scholarship may depend on a convincing and well-prepared research proposal and extensive preliminary work. And there are many other questions to be tackled if you want to make the best possible start to your doctorate – this can be particularly demanding if you are doing an individual doctorate (i.e. one that is not part of a structured doctoral studies programme) or are still searching for the PhD that is best suited to you.
Our six-month research proposal scholarship will enable you to give your full concentration to preparing your doctorate during this time. You will participate in a workshop, where our experienced lecturers will support you with lots of helpful tips and information to assist you with your proposal and get your doctorate off to the best possible start. Along with the scholarship you will automatically receive a junior membership of the Gutenberg Graduate School allowing you access to individual counselling and skills development opportunities tailored to your specific needs.
You can apply either towards the end or after successful completion of your graduate degree irrespective of whether you studied at the Johannes Gutenberg University or at another university in Germany or abroad. Your application requires the written confirmation of a mentor from the Johannes Gutenberg University who is willing to act as your supervisor during the funding phase covered by the research scholarship. This does not represent confirmation of supervision for a later doctorate.
